Growing up I lived in many neighborhoods, and each  and every one of them made me who I am today. My family and I moved around constantly, I’ve attended many schools throughout the south suburbs, and I made many friends. Before coming to Illinois I lived in Hammond, Indiana up till the third grade, from then is where my journey started. Moving around seemed fun when I was younger, but it also became annoying. People used to judge my family and I, I would lose friends, and it also made me distance myself the older I became.

Once me and my family moved to Illinois we lived with my granny. My granny lived in Dolton, Illinois, and we only lived with her until my parents were able to find us a new home. They had eventually found us a home in South Holland, IL. Moving here is what made everything better, we lived in this house until my freshman year of High School; then we moved. Before moving, this home sculpted everything for me, I had friends, I was social (to a certain extent), and everyone was happy. Leaving this house is what messed things up for me personally.  My confidence was low, I distanced myself, and my friends list got smaller.

The neighborhoods that I grew up in sculpted the person that I am today.  My trust is low, I have no patience, and sometimes I rather be a loner, but nevertheless I am determined, smart, and beautiful. These neighborhoods taught me that I cannot wait for other people to do things for me, so I have to learn how to do them myself.  I also learned that friends come and they go, and that lessons come in all shapes, sizes, and forms. Without these neighborhoods I wouldn’t have met the people I grew up with, and without those people I wouldn’t have had those lessons.
