High School and University are kind of the same, but looked at differently. People say once you get to University things can change, but for some nothings changes besides the grade they are in. For me, I see that the university and High School have many similarities which isn’t surprising. When it comes to change, my personality has minimum of change, my attitude has grown up, and I see things a lot differently than I did in High School. Coming to East-West University I knew no one, In High School I knew more people than I wanted to.
I attended Thornwood High School, which is located in the South Suburbs. Being a freshman in High School was not terrifying for me, but it was a challenge; Coming from middle school, I was an Honor Roll Student, but in High School I felt like I was barely making it through. I was really critical of myself when it came to grades. Once I became a freshman in university I was determined to do ten times better than I did in High School. I was still Critical on myself when it came to grades. Nothing changed about me when it comes to my grades and Grade point average.
Change is normal for me, but nothing has changed about my personality. In High School I had my small circle of companions, and most of them have been my companion since I was little. I mainly kept to myself, I composed, and read novels, and in the cafeteria, I did not mind sitting by myself, but I rarely did. Most people would consider me an introvert, and I would agree. Here at East-West University I came here knowing no one, which made it kind of difficult for me to make new companionship’s. You would think since the school is small, it would be easier for someone to make friends, but most of the people here came here with each other from high school. Everyone already has their small circle of companions.
In High School I always dream’t about going to university, specifically a Historically Black College University. I felt like I was mentally older than everyone in my class, which annoyed me. I was so ready to go to University, but once I got there I was ready to go back to High School. In High School I was comfortable, I knew everyone and everyone knew me. university I was like a lost puppy trying to find its way home. I finally realized that a Historically Back College University isn’t for me, but a small local university was; So, I chose East-West University.
My first lesson in college is that I had it good as a High School student. Missing classes did not hinder my grade, unlike University I was more myself in High School than I am in university, only because in High school, I basically grew up with everyone; university I know no one, so I have to make new companionship’s. university isn’t so bad, the great thing about the University is that I choose my own schedule. Some teachers treat you like an adult, which can be good or scary. Sometimes it’s a lot easier to get to know your teacher, even though you do not see them as much.
