Every class at East-West University aren’t the same, but there are some similarities. Each teacher has their own teaching method. Some can be very boring and some can be overly exciting. East-West University is very big on diversity, and that sinks into the classrooms. Also, East -West wants the classrooms to be comfortable, so the classes aren’t too big. I am currently taking Rhetoric and Style and I am also taking Introduction to Literature. These classes have some type of similarities, but they are completely different. The teachers, the classroom energy, and the grading can all be the same or it can all be different.
Rhetoric and Style is a simple but fun class for me. I enjoy composing, and learning new techniques; that is what this class is all about. Learning these new techniques will not only help me in this class, but they will help me throughout University. The new techniques has showed me that I need to work on my vocabulary, and my sentence structure, figuring that out will help me in the long run. My teacher Mr. Murray has a very fun way of teaching, its energized but not too extra. He makes sure that we understand before going any further, and he also challenges us with our writing. When it comes to grades, the class is easy to pass, but also easy to fail. Like any other class if you don’t do the work or come to class you will fail, but if you do the work and come to class you’ll pass.
Introduction to Literature is one of my favorite classes, because I get to analyze poetry and short stories. I get to hear other peoples idea and or opinions on what a poet was talking about or thinking when composing these poems. This class helps me see things from another standpoint, which is helpful because that’s called being open minded. My teacher Mr. Gorman is a great teacher, the class can be very laid back and comfortable. The class is basically a class discussion on poetry and short stories, and Mr. Gorman makes the class interesting by having everyone participate. When it comes to grades, Mr. Gorman class is really easy because he’ll work with you, and also his assignments are just keeping up with the readings. Being up to date with the readings is very helpful because you’ll pass the class.
Each class teaches me something that I can use outside of the classroom, also I am interested in both classes; they peak my interests in many ways. The teachers also have a different teaching style, but both effective. When you see either of these teachers you should register for them. They do not want to see you fail, but they will not hold your hand; that is a great balance to have.
